Description
Newcastle Building Society is one of the strongest mutual building societies
in the UK and the largest to be based in the North East of England. We
will continue to take advantage of new technologies in order to provide
innovative products and services to our members.
As a mutual organisation, we can afford to offer more competitive rates
than some of our plc competitors. Our profits are invested back into the
business and not paid out in the form of dividends to a limited number
of shareholders. Mutuality means putting you, the customer, first. Whether you are an investor or borrower with us, we hope that this will
be the start of a long and happy relationship. As well as being a customer,
you are also a member of the Newcastle and part of our future. Our members,
together with our employees and the communities in which we operate, are
the people who have the biggest stake in our Society.
The Newcastle is committed to remaining one of the leading mutual building
societies in the country. This commitment will ensure that we can continue
to meet your needs.
Each year the Newcastle donates around £100,000 to a mix of grass-roots charities
and voluntary organisations. As a mutual
it believes it has a responsibility to try
and make life a little easier for those who
may need some help.
These are values the Society clearly shares
with Universal, which is why Newcastle
Building Society will continue to support
many of the key community projects that
Universal initiated. Among these is the
highly successful Seven Stories, the Centre
for Children’s Books, which was launched
as a three-year joint initiative between
Universal and Arts and Business. Now in
its second year, children from schools in
the North East, Cumbria and
Northumberland, have been enjoying
tales from storytellers who use art,
animation and performance to engage
and entertain their young audience. |
